Quick Break passing Drill - Defenceman

Coach starts with puck in high slot and dumps into corner. 1) D-man picks up puck and wheels puck around and passes back to coach, other D goes to front of net. 2) Coach dumps it back in quickly, D-man picks up puck and plays a D to D pass. Other D man passes to coach. 3) Coach dumps puck into corner quickly, D picks up puck and pretends to wheel, stops and goes back and passes to coach. Other D goes to front of net. 4) Repeat with other D-man Focus: Head up and communication. Other D-man needs to talk to his partner. Progression: Coach lightly forechecks and the defence need to read the play. Requires someone to receive passes and dump puck back in.

Quick React Angling

Quick React Angling

Set up 2 nets on same side of zone, on goal-line below the dots. Forward lines up in front of a defenseman. Forward is facing away from defender, towards the coach. 1) Coach Passes to the forward. 2) Forward turns right or left and drives net in a 1 on 1. 3) Defender angles off forward whichever way they go. Quick 1 on 1. Drill is dead once forward loses puck. Each side goes at their own pace as one side may be moving faster than the other.

Revolver Warmup Drill

Revolver Warmup Drill

Players start on all 4 corners of the neutral-zone. Players in opposite corners pass it across the ice and follow the pass. 1) Players in opposite corners pass it across the ice and follow the pass. Player receives puck back from the player in line. 2) Player passes puck to the next corner of the neutral-zone. Receives puck back and goes for a shot. 3) Next whistle, the next 2 corners go. Players in line need to be paying attention so they can receive pass and then pass back to the player doing drill. Focus on tape to tape passes, skating with speed. The player in line focuses on passing in front of the player so that they can skate on to the pass rather than having to stop.

Two Shot 1 on 1

Two Shot 1 on 1

Pucks in all 4 corners. Forwards line up in opposite corners. D-man lines up on NZ dot starting on their knees. Coach in the corners with no players. 1) On whistle, forwards from both corners go around circle and take a shot. D-man skates to near boards and then to other side to gap up for the 1 on 1 2) After shooting, forward skates by the coach to receive a pass. skates up ice for a 1 on 1. Forward Focus: Speed to beat defender. Defence Focus: Gap Control, angling forward to the boards to cut them off.
